Distance Learning
What is distance learning? Students are able to access the classes from home, or from anywhere an internet connection is established. They can view the lessons, class notes and take quizzes and exams on a computer, and it is graded instantly and forwarded to the instructor/teacher. Otherwise, a distance learning course is the same course that would be taken if you attended the classes. The material covered is the same, as is the textbook, class assignments, quizzes, and exams.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning?

Advantages:
  • Distance learners have a more flexible schedule.
  • Distance learners may begin a course at any time during the school year.
  • Distance learners avoid travel time and time in traffic, which can make a big difference in a city.
  • Distance learning classes are cheaper.
Disadvantages:
  • Distance learners do not have the face-to-face interaction with the instructor and the other students during class. They are, however, able to ask questions via email at any time.
